Moody Travels to Mexico to Ring in the New Year
Wednesday, January 07, 2009
A few Moody platforms escaped the bitter Canadian cold snap and travelled to Puerto Vallarta for the holidays. We left a couple of the DIY Moody's behind - one with a street artist and one with a Huichol (wee-chol) bead artist named Roberto. The street artists on the PV Malecon work almost exclusively in 2D using a variety of unique techniques. They were definitely a bit confused when they were handed a Moody. The main artist immediately interpreted it as a 'diablo' and sprayed it red. After inspecting if for awhile he handed it off to his assistant who worked on it with a black Sharpie.
Make sure to check out the previous Bovinyl blog post that shows the completed Huichol Moody.
It is amazing to see the incredible amount of precision, detail and creativity that goes into each and every Huichol bead art piece.
